History of Christ Temple Church
In 1924, five women had a vision to bring the Church of Christ Holiness U.S.A. to Kansas City and would not be stopped. They must have prayed, fasted and put their monies together to have a place of worship. After worshiping in homes, they were able to secure a storefront. Later, when the church grew, they purchased a building at 702 Oakland, Kansas City, KS. Under the leadership of the late Rev. Maurice Austin, the property and our present site at 801 N. 17th Street was purchased. Today the church is a saving station, committed to reaching the lost, comforting the hopeless and teaching the unadulterated Word Of God. In the coming millennium, we are looking to God to renew a steadfast spirit within us and restore the joy of our salvation.
